Terroir To Table - Discover The Organic Food & Wine Of Burgundy

In 2017 and 2018 we are excited to announce a new cycling holiday, specifically designed to discover the very best of organic food and wine in Burgundy.

Burgundy is the most fascinating wine region in the world. Nowhere else on earth is fine-wine made in such small quantities, in so many different ways by so many different winemakers. All with the singular goal of making a wine, that is in their minds, the perfect expression of the plot of land from where the vines are reared.

As the proliferation of the natural wine movement gathers pace, from the new world to the old, it comes as no surprise that here in Burgundy, a wine region where traditional vineyard practices and traditional winemaking techniques are revered above all, this exciting frontier in winemaking has found a firm footing. But let us not overlook that Burgundy is as famed for her food as her wine. A winemaker in Burgundy will tell you that to make good wine you have to start with good grapes, and this ethos is carried with pride into the Burgundian kitchen.

The region provides produce that is second to none, and local chefs pride themselves on creating dishes that honour true flavour. Burgundian food is uncomplicated and focused firmly on sourcing the very best ingredients and then cooking them perfectly. As a result is not just the region's winemakers who are now honouring the age old traditions and practices to produce the very finest product. Burgundian food growers and farmers are now re-embracing aged-old techniques that result in providing and preparing the very finest produce with a minimum of human interference.

Here at The Hungry Cyclist Lodge sourcing, cooking and eating good food is at the heart of everything we do. If it can be enjoyed with a glass of local wine that has been made by a passionate local producer, then all the better.

With this in mind it is our pleasure in 2017 and 2018 to be able to offer a gourmet week in Burgundy that celebrates the knowledge and spirit of the passionate characters and dedicated voices behind this blooming movement in food and wine.
